1. Who we are
Text Origins ("Text Origins", "we", "us") is a Sri Lankan social media, brand and messaging company based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. We operate the website textorigins.com, provide social media, brand correction and digital foundation services, and run the Text Origins SMS Gateway. Some services are delivered in partnership with Cyclomax International (Pvt) Ltd.
This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use it and the choices you have. By using our website or services you agree to this policy.
2. What we collect
Information you give us. When you send an enquiry, request a brand audit, sign up for the SMS Gateway or contact us by phone, email or WhatsApp, we collect the details you provide: your name, company, email address, phone number, the services you're interested in, an indicative budget and your message.
Account information. SMS Gateway customers provide business registration details, a sender ID, billing information and the contact details of authorised users.
Client project information. When we work for you, we may receive brand assets, audience data, access to social media accounts, analytics and other business information needed to deliver the service.
Technical information. Our web server records standard log data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and the time of each visit.
3. How we use it
- To respond to enquiries and provide quotations and proposals.
- To deliver the services you have engaged us for and manage our relationship with you.
- To operate, secure and bill the SMS Gateway.
- To send service notices, invoices and important updates about your account.
- To send marketing about our services, where you have agreed to receive it. You can opt out at any time.
- To improve our website and services, and to keep them secure.
- To meet legal, regulatory and telecommunications obligations.
4. SMS Gateway data
When you use the SMS Gateway you are the controller of the recipient data you upload (contact lists, phone numbers and message content). We process it only on your instructions to deliver your messages, produce delivery reports and meet our obligations to mobile network operators and regulators.
You are responsible for making sure you have the right to message each recipient, for honouring opt-out requests and for complying with our Acceptable Use Policy. Message logs and delivery records are kept for the period needed for billing, dispute resolution and operator or regulatory requirements, then deleted or anonymised.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with:
- Mobile network operators, to deliver SMS messages.
- Cyclomax International (Pvt) Ltd, our partner, where a service is delivered jointly or requires their systems (for example POS, e-commerce, web or CRM).
- Service providers such as hosting, email, analytics and payment processors, who act on our instructions.
- Social media platforms, when we manage accounts or run advertising on your behalf.
- Authorities, where required by law or to protect our rights, our customers or the public.
6. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses only the cookies and browser storage needed for it to work. If we add analytics or advertising tools, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent. Third-party sites we link to (for example Facebook, WhatsApp or Google) have their own privacy policies.
7. How long we keep it
Enquiry data is kept for up to 24 months after our last contact, unless you become a client. Client and account data is kept for the life of the relationship and for up to 7 years afterwards where needed for accounting, tax or legal purposes. We delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls, encrypted connections and IP-based restrictions on SMS Gateway API access. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you and, where required, the relevant authority if a breach affects your data.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, including the Personal Data Protection Act of Sri Lanka, you may ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, object to marketing, or receive a copy of data you gave us. To make a request, email info@textorigins.com. We may need to verify your identity before we act.
10. Children
Our services are for businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes will be announced on our website or by email to account holders.
